Devils Postpile National Monument

  • The Devils Postpile is a rare geologic formation of hexagonal basalt columns with towers up to 60 feet tall, formed by cooling lava flow.

Rainbow Falls

  • Rainbow Falls, aptly named for the rainbows that form in the mist on a sunny day, is the highest waterfall on the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin river, plunging over 100 feet down. It is a 2.5 mile walk from the monument Ranger Station.
